Chemical Peel

Gentle Skin Exfoliation with Chemical Peel Treatment

Chemical peel is essentially a skin resurfacing treatment in which a strong chemical solution is applied to the top layer of the skin in a controlled manner. By doing so, the treatment removes the dead skin cells. The skin that grows back after a chemical peel is smoother and younger looking.

Chemical peel treatment is one of the oldest anti-aging treatment for ageing skin because it is generally inexpensive and convenient. Up to this day, doctors still use chemical peel for skin resurfacing, reducing superficial scars and treating various types of skin pigmentation.

Types of chemical peel

When used correctly, chemical peels can work wonders on certain skin conditions such as stubborn acne to pigmentation. A thin layer of specially prepared acids to exfoliate the top layers of the skin to allow younger, newer skin to regenerate. Depending on the type and severity of your skin condition, there are several types and strengths of chemical peel agents our doctors may use.

SUPERFICIAL PEELS Often used to treat mild conditions such as pigmentation, early photo aging, acne, and fine lines. An example of a superficial peel is salicylic acid. The doctor may require you to repeat this treatment a few times for longer-lasting results.

MEDIUM PEELS Often done as a single session because of the depth of the penetration. Such peels are capable of causing significant damage to the skin. Medium peels can stimulate collagen during the healing process. Doctors often use medium peels such as Jessner solution and TCA 35-50% to treat moderate aging, epidermal growth and deeper pigments.

DEEP PEELS May burn patients if carried out by inexperienced doctors. Deep peels are used to treat severe skin ageing and deep wrinkles. Such peels often dissolve the superficial layer of the skin to encourage new skin growth. Significant collagen production can expected when deep chemical peel treatment is administered. Doctors often use TCA 50% or higher for deep peels.

Is chemical Peel Good For the Skin?

Undergoing a superficial peel regularly can effectively improve overall skin texture and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The results are subtle with visible smoother complexion and brighter skin tone. Medium and deep peels are often used to treat more severe skin ageing, deep wrinkles and stubborn acne.

How Long Does The Result of a Chemical Peel Last?

The longevity of a chemical peel treatment usually last between 1 and 3 months, depending on how aggressive the treatment is. A superficial peel often lasts for about 1 month, while a deeper peel may last up to 3 months.

What is the downtime for Chemical Peel?

It depends on how aggressive the treatment is. For a superficial peel, you can expect some skin redness and sensitivity for 2-3 days. For medium to deep peels, you can expect your dead skin cells to shed after 4-5 days. During the recovery period, ensure that you moisturise your skin regularly and avoid exposure to the sun.

Can I see Visible Results After One Session?

You will notice visible improvement in your overall skin texture and tone after one peel. However, best results are usually seen with multiple sessions over a period of time.
