Causes of Acne Scars
It is frustrating enough to have to deal with active acne outbreak, but the scars acne can leave behind if not well-managed, can be very unpleasant.
Before we introduce our proprietary, in-house designed acne scar treatment program, it is important to understand how acne scars happen and learn to identify the different types of acne scars.
Acne scars are formed when a pimple penetrates the skin too deeply and damages the tissues beneath it. The three common types of depressed acne scars are:
BOXCAR SCARS These scars are characterised by their sharp, defined edges. They can be shallow or deep, depending on the trauma your skin experienced.
ICE PICK SCARS are narrow scars that are very deep. They resemble damage done to the skin if punctured by an ice pick, hence the name ‘ice pick scar’. Such scars can be challenging to treat because they can extend far under the surface of the skin.
ROLLING SCARS are wide depressions that have peaks and valleys across the skin. They happen when fibrous bands of tissue develop between the skin and the subcutaneous tissue below. The bands pull the epidermis in an irregular fashion, causing depressions on the skin.
Effective Combination Treatment for Stubborn Acne Scars
INFINI is a minimally-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency to reduce the appearance of acne scars. This treatment consists of micro-needles that are applied on the scarring area to release acne scar tissue. The micro-needles delivers tiny amounts of radiofrequency waves directly into the dermis, targeted at the root of the scar tissue. INFINI allows the doctor to adjust the treatment intensity by controlling the depth of puncture into the dermis, usually between 0.5mm and 3.5mm.
INFINI treatment effectively stimulates collagen reproduction to reduce the scar tissue and smoothen out the depression of the scar tissue. Unlike CO2 skin resurfacing laser, INFINI bypasses the epidermis and reach the deeper layer of the skin directly. This significantly reduces the downtime of the treatment, yet improves the healing process of the scar tissue.
PDRN THERAPY is a powerful treatment that deeply rejuvenates the skin and speeds up wound healing process. PDRN is an age-old treatment used by other medical disciplines for tissue repair in peripheral artery occlusive disease, diabetic foot ulcers, and eye lotion. The impressive result encouraged researchers to extend such miraculous healing capabilities to cosmetic and anti-aging treatments to speed up the healing process after INFINI treatment and reduce scar tissue at the same time.
SUBCISION SCAR TREATMENT For people who have stubborn, deep pitted scars on certain parts of the face, the doctor will administer subcision scar treatment on these specific areas. Subcision scar treatment is best used on rolling scars and boxcar scars. A special needle is used to break down and release stubborn scar tissue under the skin, restoring a smoother appearance of the skin.
