Ultherapy and Genius: Combination therapy for better outcome
Both treatment modalities work to tighten and lift the skin by using heat to stimulate collagen, albeit in different ways. Ultherapy is a FDA-approved, non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses focused ultrasound to lift, tone and tighten loose skin on the brow, neck, chin and décolletage.
The procedure targets the deep layers of the skin under the fat layer (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System, or SMAS, at the 4.5mm tissue depth) to produce skin contraction for lifting, and collagen production for long term anti-ageing effects. On the other hand, Genius is a micro-needling treatment which harnesses radiofrequency energy to produce controlled volumetric tissue coagulation. It is an energy-based device that also accurately and safely volumizes by stimulating the patient’s own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid levels at the same time, instead of having to use traditional injectables.
Hence it is very suitable for patients who desire more volume in their face but are not keen for fillers.
Both treatments are mutually complementary, as Ultherapy seeks to rejuvenate and lift the skin from deep within (4.5mm, 3.0mm, 1.5mm) while Genius further enhances this improvement by volumizing and tightening the skin further at the more superficial skin layers.
