Stretch Marks Removal Treatment

Using CO2 Skin Resurfacing Lasers to Treat Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are part and parcel of puberty for many young adults. When a person loses or gains weight quickly, the person may get fine lines on the body. Stretch marks occur when your skin stretches too rapidly, causing skin to break down and “crack”. Although the skin is very elastic, the collage production is disrupted and scars may form, commonly known as stretch marks. Stretch marks not only happen to young adults who experience rapid growth. When the body experiences rapid changes over a short period of time such as a pregnancy, stretch marks can develop as well. In most cases, stretch marks are usually formed around breasts, thighs, hips, abdomen, and buttocks.

Do stretch marks cream work?

Many studies have found that topical application for treating stretch marks have very little effectiveness. Creams or moisturiers that claim to treat stretch marks may seem to work temporarily because these creams are essentially moisturizers that hydrate the skin and immediately plump up the skin to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Unfortunately, very few to none of these stretch marks cream in the market can permanently fix stretch marks.

What is an effective method for removing stretch marks?

The only way to effectively reduce the appearance of stretch marks is to stimulate and replace the collagen and elastin network that have ruptured.

Stretch marks removal can now be achieved effectively with CO2 fractional resurfacing laser by targeting your skin deep within the dermis to remodel collagen, dramatically improving scars with minimal downtime and rapid recovery. During the treatment, precise, micro-ablative Columns (MACs) are created, allowing new skin and collagen to grow. Controlled Chaos Technology (CCT™) is a patented technology which minimises thermal damage to the skin, allowing you to resume your activities in the shortest time.

Any Home remedies for treating stretch marks?

You can’t entirely remove stretch marks without the help of a medical doctor. Doctors adopt one of the several treatments – surgery to laser treatment and microdermabrasion – to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

How many sessions do you need?

Treating stretch marks cannot be done in just one session of CO2 fractional resurfacing laser. You need at least 3 sessions with 4 weeks interval to see some results. Results may vary with individual. Make an appointment to consult the doctor to have your skin assessed and determine the best treatment plan for you.

What is the downtime for stretch marks treatment?

You can expect some crusting of the skin for 8-10 days. Your stretch marks will gradually get better as your skin renews itself after several treatments.

Anything to take note of after the treatment?

Avoid sun exposure at all cost. Apply sunscreen to the affected area if you intend to expose the area to the sun. Apply moisturiser to the treated area next few days after the treatment in order to expedite the healing process. You may experience some discomfort or itch at the treated area but you should refrain from scratching it. Apply generous amounts of moisturising lotion.
