All You Need To Know About Chin Fillers In Singapore

Chin augmentation treatments are becoming increasingly popular in Asian, particularly in Singapore. This is because many Asians – men and women – inherently have weak, receding chins, making the face look disproportional and imbalanced. Over the past years, we see more people seeking non-surgical chin augmentation by undergoing chin fillers.

What is a chin filler?

The projection and prominence of the chin can significantly improve your appearance. A chin filler treatment is a non-surgical facial augmentation treatment performed by injecting dermal fillers into the chin that sit just above the chin bone. Appropriate dermal filler must be used because chin filler treatment is meant to sculpt the face instead of correcting signs of ageing. This means that the dermal filler needs to be dense and cohesive. This allows the filler in the chin to hold its shape over 1 to 2 years.

How are chin fillers done?

Before the treatment, you will consult with the doctor and discuss the ideal chin shape which is suitable for your face. During the procedure, numbing cream will be applied to the area to be treated for about 15 to 20 minutes to minimise any discomfort you may experience during the treatment. Thereafter, the filler is injected into specific points on the chin and your doctor will mould the structure of your chin to achieve its desired shape. Once completed, antibiotic cream is applied to the area to minimise infection.

What are the benefits of chin fillers?

Other than augmenting the chin with dermal fillers, surgical implants can also be used to alter the underlying structure of the face. However, many people still opt for chin fillers because of the following reasons:

What are the side effects of chin fillers?

Filler treatment may cause redness and slight swelling. Fortunately, there is no need to be too concerned as such side effects are common and perfectly normal. In the case of redness or swelling, a cold compress can be applied to the area to mitigate the situation. Other side effects include bruising and mild pain which will subside 5 to 7 days after the treatment.

How much does chin fillers cost in Singapore?

The price of chin fillers in Singapore ranges from S$900 to S$2,500. The price range may seem wide because it depends on how deficient your chin is and whether any augmentation to both sides of the jaw is necessary to provide better facial symmetry. In addition, it also boils down to the type of dermal fillers used and the number of syringes needed to achieve the ideal outcome for your face. In general, you can expect to use between 1 and 3 syringes per treatment.

Frequently asked questions about chin fillers in Singapore

How long does chin fillers last?

It depends on the type of dermal fillers used. Hyaluronic acid fillers can last between 9 months and 18 months. Whereas for collagen-stimulating fillers such as Ellanse and Radiesse, these fillers can typically much longer, ranging from 12 months to 24 months. Do note that the price per syringe for collagen fillers is more expensive than hyaluronic acid fillers.

Are chin filler injections painful?

Before undergoing the procedure, your doctor will assess your pain threshold level and prescribe the necessary pain relief medication for you before the treatment. However, most people can go through the treatment comfortably with just topical numbing cream.

Is there any downtime involved in chin filler injections?

There is minimal to no downtime involved in chin filler injections. You can return to work and resume your regular activities immediately after the treatment.

Can I massage my face after getting chin fillers?

We do not recommend massaging your face after getting chin fillers as they are still moldable for a few hours after the injection.
