Dr. Christopher Looi

Medical Director

Ageing gracefully isn't about chasing perfection. It's about honouring your natural features and feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Dr Christopher Looi is a Medical Director at Radium Medical Aesthetics in Singapore, with over a decade of experience in aesthetic medicine.

His clinical interests include facial lifting and rejuvenation, ageing around the eyes, injectable treatments, skin quality and energy-based aesthetic treatments.

Dr Looi believes that ageing well is not about chasing perfection or changing the way someone looks. His approach focuses on understanding how the face changes over time and selecting treatments that can help patients look refreshed while preserving their natural features and identity.

Medical Training & Background

Dr Looi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and a medical degree from University College Dublin–National University of Ireland.

Before entering aesthetic medicine, he gained clinical experience across several areas of medicine, including Emergency Medicine, Neonatology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

He subsequently moved into aesthetic medicine in 2014 and has since focused his practice on non-surgical and minimally invasive aesthetic treatments.

Dr Looi holds Certificates of Competence for aesthetic procedures in Singapore and is an alumnus of the Allergan Medical Institute.

Understanding Facial Ageing

Facial ageing is rarely caused by a single change. Over time, changes can occur in the skin, collagen, facial volume, supporting tissues and underlying facial structure.

Dr Looi’s approach begins with identifying which of these changes are contributing most to a patient’s concerns before considering treatment.

Rather than treating every visible sign of ageing individually, he looks at the face as a whole – including facial proportions, skin quality and areas of tissue laxity – to develop a treatment plan that is appropriate for the individual.

Facial Lifting & Skin Tightening

What appears to be facial sagging can result from changes occurring at different depths of the face. This is why selecting an appropriate treatment – and understanding the layer being treated – is important.

Dr Looi has a particular interest in non-surgical facial lifting and skin tightening using energy-based technologies. Treatment selection is based on factors such as facial anatomy, skin condition, degree of laxity and the areas of the face that require attention.

Depending on the individual’s concerns and suitability, different technologies may be considered to address different layers and aspects of facial ageing.

Eye Rejuvenation

The eye area is often one of the first parts of the face where signs of ageing become noticeable. Changes may include skin laxity, fine lines, hollowing, eye bags or a heavier appearance around the upper or lower eyelids.

These concerns can look similar but may have very different underlying causes. For this reason, Dr Looi believes that careful assessment is important before deciding whether treatment should focus on the skin, underlying tissue, facial volume or a combination of factors.

His approach to eye rejuvenation focuses on identifying the cause of the concern and selecting treatment conservatively, particularly because of the delicate anatomy surrounding the eyes.

Injectable Treatments & Facial Balance

Injectable treatments can play a role in facial rejuvenation and contouring, but successful treatment depends on more than adding volume or treating individual lines.

Dr Looi considers facial anatomy, proportions and the relationship between different features when assessing whether injectable treatment is appropriate.

His approach favours subtle refinement and facial balance, with the aim of preserving the patient’s natural appearance rather than creating an obviously treated look.

Skin Quality & Rejuvenation

Healthy-looking skin depends on multiple factors, including hydration, texture, elasticity, pigmentation and collagen.

Dr Looi believes that facial rejuvenation should therefore consider skin quality alongside facial shape and tissue laxity. Depending on the patient’s concerns, treatment may incorporate injectable skin treatments, lasers or energy-based technologies to address different aspects of the skin.

The aim is to develop a treatment plan based on what the skin needs rather than following a particular treatment trend.
