PDRN Skin Healer Programme
Reverse Signs of Premature Ageing Without Surgery
- EPIDERMIS This is the outermost layer of the skin that contains skin cells, pigments, and proteins.
- DERMIS The middle layer of the skin contains oil glands, hair follicles, nerves, and blood vessels. The dermis provides nutrients to the epidermis.
- SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER The innermost layer of the skin contains sweat glands, blood vessels, and fat.
- Epidermis becomes thinner
- Number of melanocytes decreases
- Connective tissue in the skin become weaker, causing the skin to sag over time
- Blood vessels become thinner and more fragile
- Rough patches and blemishes appear on the skin
Turning back the ageing clock with PDRN
PDRN, or polydeoxyribonucleotide, is a regenerative skincare ingredient made up of purified DNA fragments. In aesthetic medicine, PDRN is commonly used as a skin healer treatment to support repair, hydration and overall skin rejuvenation.
PDRN helps support the skin’s natural recovery process by encouraging tissue repair, improving the skin barrier, and creating a healthier environment for collagen synthesis. Over time, this may help improve skin texture, hydration, radiance and skin elasticity, especially in individuals with tired, dry, dull or ageing skin.
Unlike ordinary topical skincare, injectable PDRN is delivered into the superficial layers of the skin through microinjections. This allows the treatment to work more directly within the skin, rather than remaining only on the surface. It may be suitable for different skin types, including selected patients with sensitive skin, depending on the doctor’s assessment.
How is PDRN treatment administered?
A thin layer of topical numbing cream is applied on the face. When the skin is sufficiently numb, the doctor administers PDRN into the superficial layers of the skin through a series of microinjections. There may be bumps on the injection sites for up to a day. To reduce the inflammation and accelerate the healing process, your skin may be treated with a calming mask and/or LED light.
How many times do we need to undergo the treatment?
The full benefits can be seen after 3 to 4 sessions of the treatment. At Radium Medical Aesthetics, we have put together a programme of 4 sessions of PDRN treatment over a period of 4 months so that you will yield the maximum benefits of the treatment.
Injectable PDRN vs PDRN Skincare Products
There are now many PDRN products and skincare products that feature PDRN or PDRN-inspired ingredients. These may be used as part of a home skincare routine to support hydration, comfort and barrier care. Some topical products may also combine PDRN with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides or antioxidants to help improve skin moisture and smoothness.
However, topical skincare and injectable PDRN treatments work differently. Skincare products are applied to the surface of the skin, while injectable PDRN is delivered into the skin by a doctor using microinjections. For patients who want more targeted skin repair, hydration, anti ageing support and improvement in overall skin quality, an injectable PDRN treatment may be recommended after consultation.
Some newer skincare formulations may also feature vegan pdrn or plant-derived alternatives that are designed to mimic the skin-supporting effects of PDRN. These may be useful for patients who prefer non-animal-derived skincare ingredients. However, the suitability and expected results of vegan PDRN skincare may differ from injectable medical PDRN treatments.
What to Expect After PDRN Treatment
After PDRN treatment, small bumps may be visible at the injection points for a few hours and usually settle within the day. Mild redness, swelling or tenderness may also occur, especially in patients with sensitive skin.
For post procedure care, patients are usually advised to keep the skin clean, avoid strong exfoliating acids or retinoids for a few days, and apply gentle skincare products that support hydration and barrier recovery. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides and calming moisturisers may help keep the skin comfortable after treatment.
Sun protection is also important, especially if PDRN is used as part of a broader skin rejuvenation or anti-ageing plan. Your doctor may recommend suitable skincare based on your skin types, skin concerns and treatment goals.
